Coast Guard Marathon
Mark your calendars for the Coast Guard Marathon happening March 7 -9, 2025. Participate in person or virtually and choose from a full marathon, half marathon, 5k, 1k, or take on a Semper Paratus Challenge. Proudly designated a Coast Guard City and recipient of a 2024 Great American Defense Community Award, Elizabeth City offers the perfect setting for this one-of-a-kind event!
Legends & Lore of Elizabeth City
Get ready for Legends & Lore March 29, 2025. Celebrate the rich history of moonshining in Elizabeth City! Events include a special lecture from "Alvin Sawyer", where he'll share stories of his post-prohibition moonshining days. Enjoy a live lecture and book signing by Chris Barber, along with a beer and bourbon tasting featuring local distilleries and breweries and don't miss the scavenger hunt!
Moonshine and Motorsports Music
The third in a special series of concerts celebrating North Carolina’s unique story of moonshine and motorsports featuring NC legend of Americana, Jim Lauderdale, and the iconic bluegrass trio, the Kruger Brothers is happening on March 29, 2025. Inspired by the Moonshine and Motorsports Trail developed by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR), this series will blend music with storytelling as it moves from Raleigh to Charlotte to Elizabeth City highlighting the historic places on that very trail.
Get ready for the the annual TarWheel Cycling Event on April 12, 2025. Explore the scenic, flat countryside of Pasquotank and Perquimans Counties with ride options of 33, 64, or 100 miles. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider, this beautiful course offers something for everyone!
The Bassmaster Elite series is coming to Elizabeth City from April 10-13, 2025. This exciting event marks the first time B.A.S.S. has returned to the area since the 1981 North Carolina Invitational. Don't miss the thrilling competition as top anglers take on our stunning waterways. We look forward to seeing you there!
Elizabeth City, The Harbor of Hospitality was selected by Cycle North Carolina as the host town for the 2025 Coastal Ride! Join us April 25-27, 2025, for this exciting event. Experience our beautiful waterfront and welcoming community as cyclists from across the state take on scenic routes through our historic city and beyond!
North Carolina Potato Festival
Join us for the North Carolina Potato Festival May 16-18, 2025! Bring the whole family and make a weekend of it at Northeastern North Carolina's largest festival. Celebrate the regions agricultural heritage and one of its most important crops - potatoes - with carnival food, live music, dancing, midway rides, and fair food. A fun filled weekend for all ages!
Mariners’ Wharf Summer Film Festival
Relax and unwind at our beautiful downtown waterfront during the Mariners' Wharf Film Ferstival! Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a classic movie under the stars on a large outdoor screen. The festival runs every tuesday evening from June 3 to July 22, 2025, with movies starting at dusk (around 8:30 pm). It's the perfect way to spend your summer evenings!
Music on the Green at Mariners' Wharf
Enjoy free live music every tuesday from August 5 through September 23, 2025 at Music on the Green, held at Mariners' Wharf on our beautiful downtown waterfront. Relax to the sounds of local musicians while soaking in the scenic views.
Elizabeth City Historic Ghost Walk
Take a trip back in time, meet some of our early residents and explore Elizabeth City's past. Our annual Ghost Walk is a combination of home tour, history lessson and live performance. This is a family friendly event and takes place in mid-October.
Elizabeth City State University Homecoming
Join us for Elizabeth City State University Homecoming November 8, 2025, where Viking Pride will be on full display! Festivities include a lively parade and cheering on the Vikings football team at Roebuck Stadium.
