There’s something about the holidays that makes everything feel a little more magical, especially in Elizabeth City, where the Harbor of Hospitality® transforms into the Hot Cocoa Capital of the World. From November 28, 2025, through January 3, 2026, locals and visitors are invited to sip, shop, and celebrate during the 5th Annual Hot Cocoa Crawl.
More than 40 businesses and organizations are joining the fun this year, offering cocoa-inspired treats and experiences all season long. Enjoy traditional hot cocoa with festive twists, chocolate-infused cocktails for adults, hand-crafted gifts and stocking stuffers, and family-friendly activities designed to spread cheer. Every stop adds a little more sweetness to the season.
The Crawl begins on Friday, November 28, right after Elizabeth City’s Annual Holiday Celebration & Grand Illumination. From 6:00–8:00 PM, downtown will sparkle with lights, music, and laughter. At the Hot Cocoa Capital Kickoff, guests can enjoy the lighting of downtown, complimentary homemade cocoa, and plenty of family fun to start the holiday season on the warmest note.
The celebration continues well beyond opening night. Elizabeth City’s holiday calendar is full of festive favorites, including the Annual Christmas Parade, the Lighted Boat Parade, and more seasonal gatherings downtown. With every event, the Harbor of Hospitality® shines brighter, making the city a picture-perfect holiday destination.
