Commemorating the 300th anniversary of Blackbeard's adventures in North Carolina, Elizabeth City is hosting its first Pirate Palooza. 
Ahoy, maties! Don’t miss out on the shenanigans during Pirate Palooza on April 20-21. Pirate Palooza kicks-off with a kid-friendly ‘Dine with a Pirate’ event on Friday, April 20 at Museum of the Albemarle from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and tickets are $10 per person with catering provided by Topside Catering. Motley Tones at Bald Head Island (2017)[/caption] The tomfoolery continues Saturday, April 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Mariners’ Wharf Park with pirates invading the waterfront and downtown businesses. Pirate Palooza will be in full swing as visitors can experience the life of pirates through demonstrations that are ongoing throughout the day and other fun activities with plenty of booty to be handed out. From 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Page after Page Bookstore will be hosting a free Blackbeard Party where you can hunt for treasure, receive a tattoo and other goodies. At 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., the Motley Tones will sing ballads for buccaneers of all ages to enjoy at Marieners' Wharf Park's stage. 
And to ensure you don’t look like a landlubber, be sure to don your best pirate garrrrb! We have also provided a helpful guide on how to talk like a pirate. Tip: It helps to refer to yourself as “me” instead of “I.” 
What better way to honor our buccaneering history than raising a pint of brew during North Carolina Craft Beer month! Pirate Palooza is proud to partner with the Albemarle Area United Way’s Bocce, Beer & Bites event, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., in Waterfront Park. In the beer garden, come and enjoy craft brews, provided by Ghost Harbor Brewing Company, and watch or participate in a bocce ball tournament and sample savory plates of barbecue and chicken provided by Currituck BBQ. Don’t let the name mislead; you won't find pom-pom pets or Popsicle houses at this show. Craftsmen from North Carolina and Virginia will bring their tools, knowledge and wares to showcase traditional heritage crafts expertly designed and lovingly made by first-class artisans. The 59th Annual Albemarle Craftsman’s Fair Oct. 27-29 will be held at the Knobbs Creek Recreation Center in Elizabeth City, N.C. Sponsored by the Albemarle Craftsman’s Guild, the fair features artisans who demonstrate and sell traditional crafts that range from quilting and fiber arts to pottery, jewelry and woodwork....
